However, early notes revealed a plan where Eleven was explicitly “gone, but not dead.” Another discarded concept showed Hopper being fully aware of Eleven’s “fakeout death” and working behind the scenes to keep her safe, a sharp contrast to the emotional, uncertain ending fans actually received.

The Mystery of the Missing Monsters

Many fans were confused why the final battle in the “Abyss” dimension didn’t feature the classic monsters like Demogorgons or Demodogs. Ultimately, the Duffer Brothers decided to cut these elements to keep the focus entirely on Vecna and the Mind Flayer, fearing that adding too many creatures would make the finale feel “too crowded.”

Shockingly, the Duffer Brothers admitted that they began filming the final episodes without a finished script for the series finale.
